Meet Ashleigh
Hi, I’m Ashleigh Guffey – MS, CCC-SLP, CLC
I am a Speech-Language Pathologist with specialization in orofacial myology and feeding therapy. I have a passion for helping babies, children, teens, and adults thrive through optimal oral function, airway health, and holistic whole-body care. My greatest joy is empowering families and individuals with knowledge, clarity, and tools that create lasting change. You deserve a compassionate partner who sees the full picture of your health, development, and potential. I’m honored to support you on that journey.
My career began in medical speech pathology, where I spent eight years working in post-acute rehabilitation with adults recovering from stroke, Parkinson’s disease, traumatic brain injury, and swallowing disorders. This experience grounded me in a deep understanding of neurology, motor learning, and the intricate connection between the brain, breathing, posture, and function.
My professional path transformed when my own family faced undiagnosed oral dysfunction, tongue tie, airway issues, and orthodontic relapse. Navigating these challenges firsthand opened my eyes to how often these concerns are overlooked, misunderstood, or treated in isolation. I shifted my career toward early intervention, oral motor development, myofunctional disorders, and airway-focused care so I could give other families the clarity, support, and solutions I once needed myself.
I approach every patient – from infants to adults – with a holistic, whole-person lens. I look at breathing, sleep quality, posture, airway structure, oral function, and neurology because these systems are deeply interconnected. My goal is always to uncover the why behind symptoms rather than simply address the surface.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders and my Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Mississippi.
I am licensed by Kentucky Board of Speech Language Pathologist and hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
In addition to my medical background, I have completed over 400 hours of advanced, specialized training in airway health, myofunctional therapy, oral-motor development, tethered oral tissues, infant and pediatric feeding, lactation, manual and light therapy. These training include:
- Breathe Institute Myofunctional Masterminds (9-month program)
Intensive education under Dr. Soroush Zaghi and interdisciplinary colleagues - Tethered Oral Tissues (TOTs) Specialty Training
- The Certified Lactation Counselor® (CLC) certification
- Integrated Treatment of Feeding, Speech, and Mouth Function in Pediatrics
I am committed to lifelong learning and staying at the forefront of research so that I can provide the most holistic, evidence-informed, and high-quality care for babies, children, teens, and adults.
